Will I have exclusive use?
Yes. Our model of hire is to always guarantee our clients exclusive use of the estate for the duration of their booking, with the exception of a steward or any pre-booked support staff that you may desire. It is also possible to rent the house, park, chapel or orangery separately, subject to availability. Please contact us for further details.
What does exclusive use entail?
Our model is quite simple. We offer total and utter exclusive, private use of our entire estate for clients to make of as they wish – essentially, it is a very upmarket let! There is no long list of things you cannot do, and there will be no areas out of bounds (with the exception of staff offices). Catering, drinks, decor, event management, wedding/event planning, entertainment and what you do during your time at Bridwell is all refreshingly up to you. The team at Bridwell have an excellent list of trusted quality contacts should you require any guidance or assistance with the engagement of suppliers, and we will always be pleased to assist and support clients throughout the booking process.
What is typically included in the venue hire fees?
China, glassware, cutlery, and linens for the main house, and full use of the main house kitchen.
An ‘estate stock’ of tables & chairs for use within the house, orangery and chapel.
Use of our chillers, ice-machines and drinks storage spaces within the main house and orangery.
Use of sound equipment and wifi connectivity in the house and orangery.
Use of a kitchen area within the orangery as a base for caterers servicing that room.
Luxurious toiletries and linens within all bedrooms.
China, glassware, cutlery, and basic breakfast making equipment within the old stables accommodation area.
A house manager or steward will be on site for your wedding or event day to ensure the integrity of the estate, and the safety of your guests.
What are the catering arrangements for residents?
There are a number of options available to you, from self-catering as though you would at home, to a range of ‘delivery only’ dishes, continental breakfast room service hampers, local freelance personal chefs and cooks to do all the work for you, and not forgetting our list of approved professional caterers. Essentially there is a solution for every budget, and to suit your preferred style of arrangement.
Who will contract with suppliers, such as caterers, registrars for weddings, etc?
Unless otherwise stated, all contracts with external suppliers should be made by clients direct.
Can I use my own suppliers?
Yes! Bridwell has an approved list of preferred suppliers and caterers, all of whom have the highest professional standards and the advantage of familiarity with the estate. However, if you would like to bring in a particular supplier of your own choosing, do talk to us and we will support your request where possible.
Can I bring my own wines?
Yes! You are free to bring your own wines/spirits which can be stored in our wine cellars. Alternatively, Bridwell is happy to arrange a cash bar or free bar for your guests for all or any part of the event.
Do you charge corkage?
No, Bridwell does not charge corkage.
Can we bring children?
Yes, you are most welcome to bring children, afterall, Bridwell is a much loved family home. Cots and high chairs can be provided upon request too. Please note that children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult at all times whilst in the parkland, since our herd of Deer roam freely, and should not be approached, particularly in the breeding season.
Do you have mobile reception?
Yes, there is a good signal throughout the house and grounds.
Do you have WiFi?
Yes, free WiFi is available in certain areas in the house and orangery.
Do I have to hire tables, chairs, linen, china and glasses?
These items are included in the venue hire fees for house residents. For the Orangery, Chapel, Al Fresco dining, or for Marquees these items would need to be hired in according to the menus you have chosen. Please feel free to ask the Bridwell team if you have any further questions regarding this.
What are the cleaning arrangements?
In the main, it is requested for clients to leave the estate as it was presented to them upon arrival. House keepers and support staff may be arranged for you subject to bespoke quotation. The precise arrangements for this can be discussed with the Bridwell team during your enquiry process for absolute clarity and peace of mind.
May we light the fires and have candles?
The principal rooms on the ground floor of the house have beautiful feature fireplaces. Should you wish to use the open fires during your time with us, it will be necessary to have a member of staff on site to discreetly manage the lighting of the fires, the topping up of logs and the extinguishing of fires in rooms left unattended at the end of the evening. Candles may be lit, however the flames should always be enclosed within a glass votive or lantern.
