Welcome to Bridwell

A unique country house estate in the heart of Devon

Hidden from public gaze for over 240 years, the former Devon home of Lord Ivar Mountbatten and James Coyle opened its’ doors to events for the very first time in January 2015.

Discerning clients and guests have included those seeking a Devon Wedding venue for small but beautifully formed marriage and civil partnership celebrations, those hosting a private Devon House Party or a special occasion, those in need of fabulous self contained accommodation in the heart of the West Country, those that love an uplifting Community Event and not forgetting those that enjoy a Parkland walk with a visit to The Orangery Cafe nestled in the heart of our tranquil grounds.

WELCOMING OUR LOCAL & WIDER COMMUNITY

Visitors are warmly welcomed to The Orangery Cafe and designated areas of our 100 acre Deer Park.

CAFE & PARKLAND OPENING HOURS

The Orangery Cafe and Parkland is typically open Monday to Sunday, 7 days a week, 10am til 4pm. Any exceptions to this will be published here and via our social media well in advance.

VISITOR NOTICE – SEPTEMBER 2024

Our last day of trading and operating with Lord Ivar and James at the helm will be Sunday 8th September 2024.

Gates will then close for approximately two weeks giving the new owners time to arrive and settle.

There will be no access to The Orangery Cafe or Parkland during this closure period.

Re-opening plans will be communicated in due course.

“Bridwell is without doubt a special place which stands out from the crowd when it comes to Country Houses. We’ve taken great pride in sharing our home with each welcomed guest and visitor – putting Bridwell on the map as a Devon destination. We hope those who joined us had a fabulous time. Thank you all enormously for your support. We wish the new owners arriving in September the very best of happiness.”
